Hive Side Training
Supporting the Healthy Bees Plan 2030
The Hive-Side Training (HST) programme is a government-funded initiative aimed at enhancing the skills and sustainability of the UK beekeeping industry.
Through this contract with the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA), the Bee Farmers’ Association is providing regional, hands-on sessions across the country to improve bee health and management standards.

The Bee Farmers’ Association (BFA) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in relation to the Hive-Side Training (HST) programme, which is funded by the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) under the Healthy Bees Plan 2030.
Information We Collect
To manage your booking and satisfy government reporting requirements, we collect the following:
Personal Details: Name, email address, and telephone number.
Mandatory DEFRA Data: County Parish Holding (CPH) and Single Business Identifier (SBI) numbers.
Financial Data: Payment details for the £20 returnable deposit are processed securely via Stripe; the BFA does not store full card details on our servers.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used specifically for:
Booking Management: Confirming your place and providing session details.
Attendance Verification: Sharing your name with your designated Regional Trainer to manage the session roster.
Government Reporting: Providing anonymised or specific audit data to the Authority (APHA) to prove contract delivery and fund allocation.
Refund Processing: Facilitating the return of your £20 deposit via BACS.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your data. However, as this is a funded contract, data is shared between:
The BFA (Central Admin): For global oversight and financial processing.
Regional Trainers: Who receive attendee lists to deliver the training.
The Authority (APHA/NBU): For official audit and programme evaluation purposes.
Data Security and Retention
Hosting: All data is hosted on secure, UK-based servers.
Encryption: We use 256-bit Encryption (TLS 1.3) to protect data during transmission.
Retention: We retain booking records only as long as necessary to fulfil the audit requirements of the Healthy Bees Plan 2030 contract.
